Always willing to lend a hand
To make this a better land
An effort to make others read, hear or see
Of what is right through the artist in me
Clearing the bias that clouds their mind
Giving flight to ideas which have long been confined

An art based volunteering initiative for youth, corporates and children.

V4V or Volunteer4Volunteerism or V4V promotes volunteerism through art. The initiative espouses our belief in the power of arts to effect change in the society. It was conceptualized by Be.artsy with the support of United Nations Information Centre and UN Volunteers. As part of the annual program, youth, corporates and children volunteer their time and talent to raise awareness on multitude of social concerns through the medium of art. The flagship initiative, Be on the street (V4V-BOTS) is India’s first street theatre based volunteer initiative for youth, where students from colleges across India perform on issues which matter to them. Our new initiatives, Corporates on the Street (V4V-COTS) and Schools on the Street (V4V-SOTS) are first of its kind for corporates and students respectively.

Be on the street is V4V's flagship festival, and is now in its fifth season. Youth from college teams raise social concerns through street theatre. The finale happens in New Delhi. 72 colleges from Delhi, Jaipur, Mumbai and Goa have volunteered their time and talent for increasing social awareness in an educational and entertaining way in the last four seasons.

Corporates on the street is India's first corporate street festival program. Season 1 focusses on the United Nations' sustainable development goals of gender equality and reduces inequalities with the theme of Mind Bugs, stereotypes and biases in the workplace. The initiative is co-hosted by PepsiCo India, and is open for collaboration and participation to all companies in India.

Schools on the street is India's first school street theatre festival. Season 1 focusses on the United Nations' sustainable development goal of good health, and in particular, on mental health. This festival is open to school teams of senior school students from all over India. It helps build art skills in students while being fun and socially useful volunteer work.

V4V with UNIC

UNIC (India and Bhutan) has extended its support to V4V since the festival’s inception in 2010. UNIC’s support aims to foster relationships between artists, commercial establishments, government and non-governmental bodies by encouraging young artists with a passion for theatre and social change to raise awareness on social concerns and the UN's sustainable development goals. National capacity development through volunteer schemes is one of the five strategic priorities of UN Volunteers, viz. securing access to basic social services, community resilience for environment and disaster risk reduction, peace building, youth, and national capacity development through volunteer schemes.
